Good quality, in the beginning
Matt_Thias, 01/30/2013
Experience of using: 1 year or more

We were limited in space and that why finding this cooktop was a great luck for us. 5 burners on 30-inch surface fitted our needs perfectly well. It was installed by a professional and looked like a pro model in our kitchen.

During first months of use we noticed that the control knobs are very sensitive and that we should be careful with them. Besides the power of several middle-sized burners had too much alike. After about two years of ownership, the central burner started to flicker. We got it fixed and everything worked properly for one more year. Then the problem repeated and it is really unsafe to use it.

Well, to sum everything up, while this cooktop worked, it was amazing. Really convenient and versatile. After only 4 years of use, we have to look for another cooktop. I thought that it will last longer.

Everything changed..

Pros: Easy to clean, Easy to install, Heats up quickly, High powered burners, Large surface area, Simple controls.

Finally we remodeled our kitchen and upgraded all the appliances. This KitchenAid cooktop replaced my old electric unit and I am very excited! It is very attractive, well-designed, functional and easy-to-clean. All the dishes are cooks quickly and evenly! I could ask for more!

Disappointed customer

Experience of using: Few months

Pros: Modern style, Well-designed.

Cons: Design flaw.

Grates are too heavy and uneven. No matter what type of cookware you use, it is sit unevenly. The sides of cookware are heated up better, than the center. When you try to light up one burner, all the igniters come on.

Pros and cons

Pros: pro look, effective, convenient, well designed

I use this cooktop for several months and I am still happy with it. It looks pro and cooks pro. With five burners and great grate it is a piece of art. But the controls knobs are higher than the grates, what means that if you put something on the grate, it clicks the ignition. Another addition that would be beneficial is the "on" light.

Uneven grates

Experience of using: Few months

Pros: Heats up quickly, High powered burners, Modern style.

Cons: Read below!

We did a thorough research before the purchase, because we had to replace an electric cooktop with gas model. This KitchenAid product seemed to be a great option.

IMPORTANT notice: grates have two different levels. First we considered it to be a design flaw and contacted KitchenAid customer support, but they told us that everything is fine and this “trick” was approved by an Underwriters lab. The heavier grate is set at 90 degree angle and it is higher, while the smaller grates set at 45 degree angle. Be careful while using smaller pots and pans!

Great for wokking and well designed for small kitchen appliances

Experience of using: Few months

We decided to buy this cooktop because it featured 5 burners (the max 15000 BTU), heavy grates and stylish look. It turned out to be rather powerful and flexible in use. Stainless steel look matches with our kitchen perfectly. What would we like to add? Knobs are plasticized and they melt easily. No wok ring with the set, though it would be great to have it and some cheaper brands include it.
