There are ultra short-throw projectors that can operate from the distance of 0.3 feet. They can be based on DLP (digital light processing) or LCD (liquid-crystal display) technologies. Also some companies use 3-chip LCD technology which provides higher image quality.

Average brightness output of these devices is around 2000-3000 lumens, though this number can slightly vary depending on the model. Usually these appliances come with several outputs (USB, S-video, audio, HDMI), can support 3D format and be equipped with wireless LAN. Such projectors mostly come with remote control, what makes them user-friendly and convenient in operation. Aspect ratio of these units can be 4:3 and 16:9, though there are a lot of appliances that come in both.
